Envestnet Adds Al Frank Select Multi-Cap Value Portfolio to its Approved Separate Account Platform

Al Frank Asset Management Provides Disciplined, Multi-Cap Value Portfolio

Laguna Beach, CA – January 28, 2008 – Al Frank Asset Management (AFAM), one of the oldest, private boutique money managers in the country, has created the Al Frank Select Multi-Cap Value Portfolio which will be available on Envestnet’s separate account platform.

“We are extremely pleased to be able to partner with Envestnet to offer investment advisors across the country our disciplined and successful brand of value investing,” said Jeff Montgomery, Chief Executive Officer of Al Frank Asset Management. “This is acknowledges our unwavering commitment.” Montgomery added.

Al Frank Asset Management has embarked upon an ambitious phase of organizational growth.  Bill Crager, President and Co-Founder of Envestnet states, “The hiring of Jeff Montgomery as CEO sends a strong signal to the industry that AFAM is committed to leveraging its past success to embark upon a period of rapid and sustainable growth.”   Montgomery was previously CEO of NFP Securities Inc. (NFPSI), and during his tenure there, grew the independent broker dealer and registered investment advisor from a relative unknown into one of the largest firms of its type in the financial services industry.

The Al Frank Select Multi-Cap Value Portfolio zeros in on a blend of stocks the firm believes are attractively priced and well-positioned for long-term appreciation. To potentially minimize risk and optimize performance, Al Frank utilizes a buy-and-hold strategy.  Portfolio managers hold at least 50 and often up to 80 stocks, for longer periods of time in order to maximize the chances that they will fully reap the rewards of investing in true value leaders.  While pronounced stock market turmoil has made advisors’ jobs that much tougher, the AFAM long-standing disciplined and consistent investment philosophy is designed to give both advisors and their clients a solid, core value holding and the serenity that comes with taking a long-term approach to investing.

“We are pleased to add the Al Frank Select Multi-Cap Value Portfolio to our platform,” said Richard Hughes, Co-President of PMC, the Investment Consulting unit of Envestnet.  “Led by John Buckingham, who has, exemplified the firm’s investment style and methodology since 1987, the portfolio utilizes a sound and repeatable investment process.  Al Frank Asset Management has a long and respected track record in the investment management industry and we are proud to partner with them.”

"Our three core tenets: selection, diversification and patience, are more in favor now than ever before,” said John Buckingham, Al Frank’s Chief Investment Officer. “Our stock selection process sets us apart as we don’t limit ourselves to style boxes, so we’re free to go wherever we think the best stocks are currently found. We crunch thousands of numbers to unearth bargains. We are confident that their value has the potential to emerge in time, so patience comes easily.  Patience in turn enables us to have low turnover of our holdings, which keeps our trading costs down while potentially improving our after-tax returns.”

Al Frank Asset Management is also the editor and publisher of The Prudent Speculator.  The newsletter was ranked #1 (not adjusted for risk) for the past 15, and 20 years, according to The Hulbert Financial digest (as of December 30, 2008).
